What to wear for Spring

As August comes to an end, here in the Southern Hemisphere, we’re transitioning into Spring.  This is one of the most exciting times of the year for me because there’s usually a burst of colour everywhere you look: in nature, in stores and in the bright clothes that everyone breaks out almost instantaneously.  Here are a few of my must-haves for Spring that won’t break the bank (Yay!!!) and that will have you looking glamorous for this fun season (double YAY!!!).

I’m loving Aztec prints at the moment.  I think they’re so much fun and these patterns add such an eye-catching element to any outfit.  I’m also crazy about this print in a blazer but these pants really grabbed me.

Speaking about a blazer, pack that black one away.  A bright coloured blazer acts as an instant pick-me-up and will have you looking totally gorgeous with minimal effort and let’s face it – the quicker we can look pulled together, the better.

A blouse is an essential item in my wardrobe.  I wear them on almost a daily basis.  This winter I’ve actually worn the pink version of this blouse here and here but this yellow one has me excited for Spring being such a bright fun colour.

I don’t know about you but the moment I put on a blouse I immediately look for a necklace to pair it with.  Why not add more colour with a great statement necklace.

Finally, shoes.  I saw Brett with these heels on, I knew I had to have them.  I think these shoes are a must-have for Spring with their beautiful two toned colouring. {Keep your eyes peeled for another blogger exchange featuring these beauties}  A strappy pair of sandals and you can’t go wrong this season.

What do you think are key transitional pieces?  I’d love to know!

Aztec Print

Zara blazer | Mr Price dress | Woolworths tights | Mr Price booties | Forever New bag | Sass Diva necklace and bracelets | Michael Kors watch |

It’s had this Aztec heart print dress sitting in my cupboard all winter and I finally pulled it out for lunch on the weekend.  I’m always drawn to hearts – it must be the romantic in me.  Perhaps I’m ready for/to love again J

I’m so crazy about these blue leggings!  It’s the colour that lead me straight to them.  I was heading out with friends for a night on the town and I thought this combo would be great for a little fun.

Cat Lady

Cotton On shirt | Legit two toned pants | Woolworths heels | Forever New purse | Mr Price necklace | Michael Kors watch | Sass Diva bracelets

I am a 23 year old cat lady.  There is no denying it.  I currently am a loving mommy to two fur babies and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write about them.  T.C. and Hermione bring lots of tender love to my household so you can understand how my love for cats translated into this cat print blouse.  I tend to get teased by my friends for wearing it but I embrace it.  I thought it would be fun to pair this blouse with my favourite leather panelled trousers and red heels.  What do you think?

Turquoise & Sequins

Old blouse | Forever21 necklace | Mr Price leggings | Ray-Ban sunnies | Boutique bag | Woolies boots | Michael Kors watch

This sequins turquoise blouse has been sitting in my cupboard for years.  It’s something that I bought on a family trip to England when I was still in school.  I don’t wear it often but its one of those pieces in my wardrobe that have nostalgic value and for that reason I’ll probably keep it forever.  It’s great when you find a piece that can take you back in your own history and retrace your steps while taking new ones.  Do you have anything of sentimental value in your wardrobe?

Decorex 2013

This long weekend I was invited to Decorex at Gallagher Convention Centre.  This annual décor expo is always delightful.  I absolutely love seeing how decorators have staged bedrooms and lounge areas.  I absolutely love this linen couch.  I also love this Union Jack one-seater.  Scented candles add so much ambiance to a room so I loved the collection that had been put together.  I think wallpaper is always a good idea so I snapped a two of my favourites for you to see.

What is you décor go-to?  Is there something or a particular style you are drawn to?

Rain Boots

Foschini chambray | Mr Price jacket and leggings | Steve Madden Boots | Forever New bag | Sass Diva bracelets | Michael Kors watch | vintage scarf

We had rain this weekend which is very odd for August.  I’m not opposed to jumping in puddles though so I couldn’t wait to get my rain boots on and get outside!

Happy Monday

Roberston Wine Valley

On Saturday we headed out to the Robertson Wine Valley Festival at Kievets Kroon.  This beautiful setting had me feeling like I was the closest to Cape Town I could possibly wish for at that particular moment.  We were greeted by the sound of live music as we arrived and gifted a 2009 bottle of Merlot as we received our wine glasses.  There was such a variety of beautiful wines to choose from but the bottle we chose to sip on was a Blush sparkling wine. Delish.  Kievets Kroon is such a beautiful place and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a weekend away from Jo’burg because it’s not far and the city becomes a distant memory the moment you park your car.

Dermalogica

I was lucky enough to be by LadyBloggers to attend a Dermalogica event on Wednesday.  The event was held at University of Johannesburg’s Arts Centre which is such a great venue (can you tell I’m a UJ girl?).  As I arrived, I was greated with big smiles by the Dermalogica team, given my name tag and gift bag (yay!) and shown into the reception hall where breakfast was being served.

The Dermalogica team were explaining their great products to all those interested over a cup of coffee before we were lead into the hall for a lecture by the neuroscientist, Dr Claudia Aguirre.  This is not your average scientist with grey hair and thick glasses, noooo.  This gorgeous young creature stepped onto stage in purple sling-back stilettos, a tiered skirt and freshly curled hair.  She explained the biology behind skin care and the reality is fascinating.

I felt so lucky to be a part of such a fabulous event.  Thanks so much to Dermalogica and Ladybloggers for making it possible!
